Quirky Marriage Proposals

Today is the anniversary of Michael Polansky’s proposal to Lady Gaga, and, after she herself suggested it, he proposed with a Blade of Grass from the backyard of their mansion (and also a traditional Diamond Ring). Lady Gaga made a song about it, during which I remembered that, in the movie A Star Is Born, Bradley Cooper’s character proposed to her character with a String of Guitar (a true musicians proposal).

It reminded me of a photo a saw years ago of 2 Italian content creators: he proposed to her with an Onion Ring. And in the Italian movie “La Banda dei Babbi Natale (The Band of Santa Clauses)”, one of my favorite Italian comedians, Aldo Baglio of Aldo, Giovanni & Giacomo, used a Tortellino (a type of pasta) as a ring.

There are probably more examples I don’t remember, but that got me thinking: what would my quirky proposal be?

I’m not planning to marry, but if I do, I’m silly enough to do something similar, but what could I use as a ring?

Flexible objects seem to be an American quirk, and food an Italian quirk. I’m Italian, so… a particular type of French Fry (ironically)? A peculiar Chocolate ring? A Mini Donut? A piece of my favorite Sardinian pastry (Zippola)?

Or should I go in my own original way? Like a Mini CD of a music album or a video game? A Mini DVD/Blu-Ray Disc of a particular movie?

Or… you know that tradition of tying a knot to remember something? Maybe the proposal could be a romantic note knotted around the ring finger? It could be a Poem, a Promise, an Inside Joke, the Date and Place of the Proposal…
