Paris 2019

It was October of 2019. The month was already going great. The whole year was going great: I took my Bachelor’s Degree, I translated the book “Last Tales of Monkey Island” from Italian to English, and I just made my fan trailer of “A Heist with Markiplier”, of which I’m really proud.

Around October 20th (2 days after my trailer), my mom’s cousin told us that she and her boyfriend were going to Paris (France) in a couple of days, and asked us if we wanted to go with them. We said: “Fuck YES!!”, bought the plane tickets and booked the hotel. Our hotel was back to back to their hotel, in the same block, and it was 2 blocks away from Le Palais des Congrès.

We woke up at around 5 a.m. on October 23rd and took the usual train from Oristano to Elmas Airport at around 7 a.m., then the plane from Elmas to Paris Beauvais at around 9 a.m., and finally the bus from Paris Beauvais to Le Palais des Congrès.

The first afternoon, we decided to take a walk on the Avenue des Champs Elisées, starting from L’Arc de Triomphe, passing in front of Cartier, Lido de Paris, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., we visited the amazing Disney store, we walked in front of Le Grand Palais, we reached Le Pont Alexandre III, then the front of le Musée de l’Armée. Next, we found le Laboratoire de Biologie Médicale in Rue de Bourgogne and my mother (professional biologist) had to take a picture in front of it. After a nice dinner, we saw the front of Le Palais Bourbon.

The next morning was dedicated to la Tour Eiffel. It was an incredible morning: I took the selfie I now use for my YouTube thumbnails under the Tour Eiffel, we went halfway up inside the tower, and saw a special exposition on the history of the tower for its 130th anniversary!

Right after lunch, we went straight to La Basilique du Sacré-Cœur du Montmartre, which was absolutely beautiful, and took a walk through la Place du Tertre in Montmartre and saw all the artists paint the tourists in dozens of different styles. To travel around Paris, I navigated the incredibly efficient subway system of the city. Going back to the hotel, we visited the Hard Rock Café Paris.

October 25th and 26th were dedicated to the museums:

in the morning, we went to le Musée d’Orsay, full of Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings and other wonderful paintings and sculptures;

at lunchtime, we took photos and selfies in front of Le Musée du Louvre (unfortunately, we didn’t have the time to enter and explore it);

after a short walk on le Pont Neuf, we visited the astounding Sainte-Chapelle and we walked under La Cathédrale de Notre-Dame, closed off for the reconstruction (this was a few months after the fire);

the next morning, we took a walk in the beautiful Place de la Concorde and visited Le Musée de l’Orangerie, full of famous Henri Matisse and Georges Seurat’s paintings (like “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte”);

we then took another walk and passed in front of/visited le Musée Rodin, where I took a picture of the sculpture Le Baisier of Auguste Rodin;

in the afternoon, we walked along La Seine, reached la Vedette du Pont Neuf and took a 1-hour cruise of the river, which went around Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis, under all the wonderful bridges ‘til la Cathédrale de la Sainte-Trinité and la Tour Eiffel, and back to Pont Neuf;

in the evening, we walked around Le Louvre, passed in front of L’Hotel Regina (famous Red Cross hotel), reached Galignani, “the first English bookshop established in the Continent”, and back to our hotel.

The last day, October 27th, we went to took the plane (I think from Paris Charles de Gaulle) around noon to Cagliari (Elmas Airport), train to Oristano and back home, from a fantastic, amazing vacation!

3 days later, I watched “A Heist with Markiplier”.

P.S. Like we did in Rome 2008, Madrid 2009 and London 2015, we got a crystal cube with 3 Paris’ monuments inside.
